What can I expect on arrival?
On arrival, any general queries you may have about the treatment will be answered. Information will be requested regarding your current state of health, lifestyle and relevant medical history. All discussions are, of course, completely confidential. We will discuss treatment options and frequency and agree a short and longer term plan of action.
Do I need to tell my GP I am coming for treatment?
It is recommended for those people with an chronic medical condition who are having regular check-ups and reviews of medication with their GP, Consultant or other healthcare professional or ladies who are pregnant.
What should I take into account when choosing a therapist?
You should ensure that any therapist is fully qualified and insured, and a member of an appropriate professional organisation which regulates its’ members.
My feet at ticklish - will Reflexology still be suitable?
During a Reflexology treatment, the level of pressure applied will vary. It is helpful to let me know if you tend to be ticklish and the treatment will be adjusted accordingly. Most people who think their feet are ticklish are surprised to find that they enjoy Reflexology and don’t have any problems.
How soon can I have Reflexology when I am pregnant?
There is no reason why treatment should not continue throughout a normal pregnancy - this can only be of benefit to you and your baby. Maternity Reflexology is a specialist therapy and your treatment will be adjusted to take account of the changes in your body during your pregnancy. All concerns will be discussed with you individually when booking your first appointment.
Should I have Reflexogy when taking drugs to assist conception?
It is not advisable to receive Reflexology treatments at the same time as taking medication to assist conception. However, Reflexology prior to any conventional fertility treatment can be highly beneficial as it helps with relaxation and emotional balancing.
My baby is late - how can you help?
“Preparation for birth” techniques can be used, with the consent of your midwife, if you are past your estimated “due date”. If your baby is ready to be born, these may help to relax the mum-to-be and stimulate a natural birth rather than experience medical intervention.
Do all Reiki courses cover the same topics?
The UK Reiki Federation has a core course curriculum but independent Reiki Master Teachers have a degree of flexibility on how this is taught and the detailed content. You will probably find that you look at a number of courses and potential Reiki Master Teachers before you find the one that is right for you.
